I purchased a varied assortment of dog coats for our sleek fur, West German Shepherd Working Dog, XXL, just turned 2 at Christmas, and returned all others brands except these. Our girl has warmed up to the idea of wearing her coat on cold days and no longer fusses about putting it on so she can stay outside and play longer. The structural design is durable and well thought out to assist you in dressing pooch, with a slide together clasp at the shoulders, (I would not recommend attaching a leash to the 2 D ringed clasps because they will not hold back a large spirited dog), to be that extra set of hands one usually needs to dress a very active dog, once you have gotten the front legs into there respective holes, quickly snap it together. Then, beginning at the tail, align zipper and zip it forward to the high neckline, that has a wide reflective strip sewn in. Cookie rewards were helpful in training her to wear new coat. One last measure to keep coat in place and on dog, is a stretchy elastic ring around neck to adjust size and you can interlock one clasp over the other to secure the elastic, which also helps to keep zipper from working loose. Lots of stylish colors to choose from, but for our "mud puppy," we chose the coat with the dark black bottom. Fabric is nicely quilted to build loft and add to warmth. Also, cannot beat the fit, especially in length from shoulders to tail, this design was the longest, covering her deep chest as well. Coats were washed a few times since purchasing, as zipped, turned inside-out and pretreated with stain remover, then put into zippered laundry bags specially made for the washer, normal cycle of front loader. Line dried and turned out beautifully ? Highly recommended purchase!
